Hally often will introduce herself to you as Sally. Most of the time, that is, once Hally has had a drink or two, she calls herself Sally because she does not want to turn up in tomorrow’s news. Hally Chards considers herself to be a reader of the news even though she promptly forgets everything about the world that she ever reads she reads more than anyone else she knows. As Hally Chards waltzes through life she offends everyone since she has nothing for anyone to complain about yet seems to make others feel like they are walking in a naked dream. Hally Chards is clandestine in that no one actually knows who she is.
